(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA)—At a time when many Americans are struggling to earn family-sustaining incomes, Delaware County Community College is offering a high priority career focused training program for professional positions in building and facilities management and maintenance.

The Building and Facilities Maintenance Certificate (BFMC) will be offered through both the Coatesville Training and Education Center and the Downingtown Center to support workforce development in Chester County.

The training will prepare graduates for entry-level employment as maintenance technicians, maintenance mechanics, building property maintenance technicians, facilities maintenance workers, building operations technicians, general handypeople/maintenance workers and more.

“Students will learn skills that directly align with workforce needs of employers in our region,” said ǸԹ Vice President of Workforce and Economic Development Dr. Karen Kozachyn. “This initiative aligns with the College’s commitment to providing accessible career training that leads to employment and economic mobility.”

Tuition assistance and scholarships are available for students who qualify. The first cohort will begin in August 2026 and will take place at Coatesville Training and Education Center, 128 E. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville, PA 19320. Classes are offered part-time in the evening. Classes in Downingtown will also begin in August 2026.

The 29-credit program features courses that include Carpentry Fundamentals, Introduction to Electricity Building Construction Code, Construction Blueprint Reading, Industrial Systems Drawing, Workplace Safety and more. Upon completion, students will earn Certificate of Competency.
